The following services are based on requests that have been received and completed, or were requested and denied because of lack of facilities or personnel needed to complete.

Services are broken into the following categories:

  1. can be accomplished by providing self-service stations
to complete the task described. 2. require on-location recording/production. 3. Studio services - CGPS studio, duPont studio
(Video or Audio) 4. Other/Misc.

New Media Menu of Services

Self-service (or "assisted service")

   * Digital file/clip from a DVD
   * Digitize a VHS tape (or clip) for use on web; for a DVD;
for PowerPoint presentation * Create a DVD of a video taped event * Create a DVD from existing video (wmv, flv, etc.) * Instruction on Effective PowerPoint presentations * Capture a screencast for publishing online,
or in PowerPoint * Convert audio tapes/vinyl LPs to CDs/digital files (MP3) * Simple voice recording into computer (recommended
microphone/software - Audacity) * Digitize(Scan) slides, negatives, and photos * Captioning of video/audio/presentations * PDF document creation


On-location service

   * Live webcast of campus event
   * Record professor/lecturer in classroom/auditorium
for on-demand broadcast (video-webcast; audio-podcast) * Videotape short classroom speeches to upload to YouTube;
convert to other hosted web video (could be self-service
w/equip. loan) * Capture audio interviews and archive them in digital
format (podcasts)


Studio Services

   * Videotape instructor on virtual set, convert to various
formats * Studio interviews (Video or Audio)


Other/Misc.

   * Troubleshooting video playback on computers
(CODEC troubleshooting) * Other consultation w/faculty regarding new media usage



Equipment needed

   * VHS to DVD recorder (Panasonic DMR-EZ47VK) for multiple
media conversion including: ** VHS to DVD ** DV (Mini-DV) to DVD ** DVD to VHS (non-encrypted DVDs)
