Editing Video with iMovie
- Start iMovie HD
- Select "Create a New project"
- Provide a name for your project*Choose the video format (generally DV)
- Turn on the video camera (the iMovie screen should eventually say "Camera Connected")
- You can now control the camera with iMovie. Press Play, or Rewind or Fast Forward to find the spot in the tape to record.
- Click Import to capture your footage
- Once you've got your clips, drag them to the timeline. Crop them if needed.
- Add titles, effects, and transitions if desired
- To save your file, choose File>Share...
- Compress movie for: Expert Settings. Click Share.
- Name the file. Click Options.
- Set the video settings to the following: MPEG-4, 30 FPS, Restrict to 300kbps, medium quality.
- No filter settings
- Size should be 320x240 (320x177 if you have a widescreen aspect ratio)
- Sound settings: AAC format, Mono channel, 32KHz.
- Fast Start
- Click Save to complete your movie.

Editing movies from the digital camera
Use iPhoto to import your video, then drag the film clip icon to iMovie. Then follow the above instructions.
